About VNP

The Volunteer Network Program (VNP) is a free service of the Scarborough Campus Students’ Union (SCSU) at the University of Toronto- Scarborough (UTSC).

We connect subscribed student members to meaningful volunteer opportunities on campus and around the GTA. These opportunities can be long term, short term, or occasional.

The VNP provides students with essential information concerning the volunteering world as well as skill building opportunities through Special Projects (SPros), networking events, workshops and trainings.

Furthermore, in an effort to recognize the passion, dedication and commitment of its volunteers, the members take part in the VNP Rewards System. This consists of logging hours in order to build up credit to earn prizes, trainings, awards, certificates, scholarships, and such.

Our Mission

To create a network of UTSC students who take pride and ownership of their own communities. We strive in strengthening student leaders by providing students with meaningful volunteer work serving as experiential learning opportunities. These opportunities allow to network, build essential skills, develop a better sense of community, get involved and make a difference.

Our Vision

On top of making a difference in the community, the vision of the VNP is for UTSC students to be well-rounded individuals with experiences, networks, and abilities needed in today’s competitive job market.

Our Core Values

  • Passion
  • Dedication
  • Leadership
  • Equity
  • Civic Engagement

What the VNP offers…

Students

The VNP aims to provide students with experiences allowing them to network and to build essential skills while at the same time permitting them to forge their niche in the community.

Students gain practical experience by engaging in community outreach, which in turn leads to building their resumes, inciting potential employment opportunities in the future, amongst other benefits.

With the use of the VNP Rewards Chart, the VNP also permits students to garner recognition in the form of certificates, awards, and scholarships.

Organizations/Clubs/Academic and Non-Academic Departments

The VNP provide organizations the chance to recruit volunteers for their events, services, and/or programming by promoting these positions to the VNP database. These organizations include not-for-profit organizations, businesses, student clubs and university administration.

To inform us of their opportunities, organisations simply fill in a Recruitment Request Form that they send back by fax, email or in person.
