Position Type Part-time, Contract 

Remuneration $19 per hour 

Shifts Between the hours of 9 am – 7 pm (subject to change) from October 21-25

Positions Available Twelve (12)


The Scarborough Campus Students’ Union (SCSU) is the not-for-profit organization that represents all Full-Time and Part-Time Undergraduate Students at the University of Toronto at Scarborough (UTSC) and provides to its members a broad range of advocacy work, services, and events. The Student Centre is operated by SCSU and serves as the central hub of student life and services in the UTSC community. We are in search of dedicated efficient employees to work at the polling booths during the SCSU By-Elections.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Mandatory to attend all training session regarding proper polling booth procedures as setup by the Chief Returning Officer and Deputy Returning Officers.

  • Maintain efficient operation of the polling booth during the SCSU Elections.

  • Manually cross reference student’s identification with a provided list to ensure votes are cast in a fair manner.

  • Ensuring that ballots are kept secure at the polling station & keeping a record of all ballots.

  • Report to the Chief Returning Officer & Deputy Returning Officers when requested to do so.

  • Please note that the successful applicants will be required to waive their right to be eligible for candidacy in the Director Elections of the current elections.


REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Previous experience as a polling clerk is beneficial

  • Reliability - ability to work with minimal supervision

  • Familiarity with SCSU Elections policy is an asset
