The Scarborough Campus Students’ Union is looking for a dynamic and dedicated coordinator for its annual SCSU Tax Clinic. This coordinator will have the opportunity to network with the Certified Management Accounts (CMA), Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) and the International Student Centre (ISC) to execute programming. Manage your own project- from marketing, to budget implementation, motivation, hiring and logistics – prepare to be challenged!


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • As the SCSU Income tax clinic coordinator you will work closely with the Vice President of Operations to plan, execute and review the SCSU Tax clinic. You will lead a team of 2 Junior Tax clinic coordinators and about 40 income tax associates to provide excellent customer service to UTSC students.

  • Since 2006, the SCSU has partnered up with the Canada Revenue Agency to host an Income Tax Clinic to help students complete their income tax and benefit return. This initiative is part of the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program (CVITP) which is a source of pride for the CRA.


REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

**Must be a UTSC student and be available for supervision during the majority of the SCSU Tax Clinic in the Winter 2025 session as well as the Winter reading week (February 2025) for training. **

  • Previous experience with filing taxes is required

  • Must be highly dedicated

  • Strong ability to multitask, work under pressure, work independently and meet deadlines

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

  • Basic experience in accounting, finance or math

  • Comfortable working with numbers

  • Credible, mature and punctual

  • Openness to and respect of people’s culture, faith and traditions

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

  • Ability to work in and create a team environment

  • Ability to manage, coach, mentor and teach, and motivate volunteers
